Former Governor Doug Ducey Endorses Trump And Lake

Former Governor Doug Ducey Endorses Trump And Lake

By Matthew Holloway |

Former Governor of Arizona Doug Ducey announced Tuesday that he has officially endorsed both President Donald Trump and Republican Senate nominee Kari Lake. Ducey, also a Republican, had previously placed himself at odds with Trump and Lake supporters after his certification of the state’s Electoral College slate in 2020 and has been relatively quiet on the political stage since leaving office in 2023 due to term limits.

Ducey wrote in a post to X, “Much is on the line this election year & I’m encouraging all eligible Arizonans to vote & prioritize the issues that most affect our state & nation. I will be voting for Republicans up & down the ballot in November — and both Donald Trump and Kari Lake have my endorsement.”

In a thread following the initial post, the former Governor gave several reasons for his endorsement. He wrote, “The border must be secured,” sharing reporting from Fox’s Bill Melugin that new DHS data showed 99 illegal aliens on the FBI terror watchlist were released into the US.

He added, “Inflation must be tamed,” and shared an RNC Research post showing Biden Press Secretary Karinne Jean-Pierre claiming that Biden “inherited” an “economy that was on the downturn.”

Turning to foreign affairs, Ducey wrote, “America must be respected around the globe and World War III must be avoided,” and presented a Republican Jewish Coalition report stating, “Kamala Harris is open to an ARMS EMBARGO against Israel as the Jewish state fights a war for its very survival against Iran and its terrorist proxies.”

Pointing to Democrats’ proposals to modify the Supreme Court to meet its political needs Ducey said, “The Supreme Court should not be restructured by Chuck Schumer.”

Moving back to more domestic affairs such as the economy and education, he added that the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, a landmark piece of GOP legislation which Sen. Pat Toomey called “the most successful tax reform in at least 30 years,” “must be extended and made permanent.” And sharing a Trump campaign video from a Columbia, SC, rally in which Trump vowed, “I will fight for universal SCHOOL CHOICE,” he added, “School choice must be supported.”

Finally, Ducey concluded, “Differences aside, there is too much on the line and only a Republican in the White House and a majority in the House and US Senate can ensure it.”

The group Republicans Against Trump, who may have hoped that Ducey would either sit out the 2024 campaign or oppose Trump, replied to the former Governor with scorn writing, “Have you no shame?”

Trump and Ducey have long been at odds after the then-Governor infamously ignored a phone call from the President during his televised certification of Arizona’s Electoral College slate. Trump blasted the decision in a tweet saying, “Why is he rushing to put a Democrat in office, especially when so many horrible things concerning voter fraud are being revealed at the hearing going on right now. @OANN What is going on with @dougducey? Republicans will long remember!”

As of this report, Trump has not made a public statement regarding Ducey’s endorsement.

Ducey also opposed Lake at a critical juncture after the 2022 gubernatorial campaign when he refuted Lake’s allegations on the integrity of the election. He had supported Lake’s opponent Karrin Taylor Robson and told CNN’s “State of the Union,” “Kari Lake is misleading voters with no evidence. She’s been tagged by her opponents with a nickname, Fake Lake, which seems to be sticking and actually doing some damage,” per Politico.

Lake however, officially acknowledged Ducey’s endorsement and even praised his administration in a post to X writing, “For eight years, Governor @DougDucey transformed our economy and our education system. He made Arizona a destination again. But radical Democrats like Ruben Gallego want to take that away. Doug Ducey supports me because he knows it’s never been more important to unite all Arizonans and win big in November. Thank you, Governor!”

Lake’s gracious acceptance was met with some trepidation by her followers on the platform though, with some commenting, “Is that a good thing?” “That’s not an endorsement to be proud of,” and “I would shy away from that endorsement.”

The Far-Left Has No Case Against Voter Registration Laws, So Now They’re Crying Racism

The Far-Left Has No Case Against Voter Registration Laws, So Now They’re Crying Racism

By the Arizona Free Enterprise Club |

When all else fails, cry racism. That seems to be the playbook the Far-Left utilizes any time it can’t make a coherent argument against election integrity laws. And here we are once again. The latest accusations of racism come amidst a series of depositions along with closing arguments in a lawsuit filed by a cabal of liberal organizations against two commonsense voter registration laws: HB 2243 and HB 2492.

Passed in 2022 and signed by then-Governor Ducey, HB 2243 ensures that only eligible voters remain registered by requiring regular voter roll maintenance. And so far, it has proven to be effective—revealing that over 78,000 individuals have been identified on Arizona’s voter rolls as either noncitizens or nonresidents. When you consider how close some of our state’s races were in 2022, these numbers should be great cause for alarm. But of course, many of those close races went in favor of Democrats, so the Left doesn’t want to ask too many questions.

HB 2492, which was also passed in 2022 and signed by then-Governor Ducey, bolsters safeguards to our voter registration process to require proof of citizenship ensuring that only U.S. citizens are voting in our elections. Where’s the controversy here? U.S. citizens cannot go into France, Australia, or any other country throughout the world and vote in their elections, so why should citizens from other countries be allowed to vote in our elections?

Not too long after both bills were signed into law, the Left filed a lawsuit against them and recently made a part of the proceedings about…the Arizona Free Enterprise Club (who is not a party in the lawsuit)…

Horne Extends Deadline For Schools To Report Compliance With Holocaust Education Law

Horne Extends Deadline For Schools To Report Compliance With Holocaust Education Law

By Daniel Stefanski |

A key reporting deadline for Arizona schools is being extended.

Earlier this week, Superintendent of Public Instruction Tom Horne announced “an extension of the deadline to February 23 for schools to report their compliance with the current law that requires Holocaust education in public schools.”

The law “requires students to receive instruction in the Holocaust and other genocides at least once in middle school and once in high school.”

In a statement to accompany the announcement, Horne said, “Since we first requested that schools attest to their compliance with the state mandate for Holocaust education for middle and high school students, we have received many responses, but not all districts and charters have replied. Arizona law is clear that this is a requirement for middle and high school students.  As Superintendent, I have the legal authority to make sure that laws pertaining to education in Arizona are being followed. Therefore, my enforcement action will be that for the online ADE School Report Card we will indicate in red letters any school’s failure to respond to the Holocaust education verification by February 23.”

Not only is Horne extending the deadline for schools to report compliance with the law, but he is hoping state legislators and the governor are able to strengthen the statute for future students. His press release noted that two lawmakers – Representatives David Marshall and Alma Hernandez – have embarked on a bipartisan mission to pass a bill that would “require students in grades 7-12 to twice complete a three-day program on the Holocaust and other genocides.”

Horne also addressed this development in his release, saying, “After the horrific events of October 7, there was a one-sided pro-Hamas presentation at Desert Mountain High School that produced antisemitism among students and made Jewish students uncomfortable and fearful. If Holocaust studies are presented, students will be less gullible to antisemitic presentations and this legislation will strengthen that effort. I am grateful to Representatives Hernandez and Marshall for their bipartisan work to strengthen this law.”

The law giving the state’s schools chief authority to require the information from Arizona schools was HB 2241, which was passed by the legislature and signed into law by then-Governor Doug Ducey in 2021. The bill was sponsored by Alma Hernandez, a Democrat. It passed both chambers with almost unanimous support. Ducey, in his letter to then-Secretary of State Katie Hobbs, informed her that he was signing the legislation to “ensure that we continue to teach our students the history of past atrocities, which in return will instill greater compassion, critical thinking, societal awareness, and educational growth in our students.”

Katie Hobbs Owns The Arizona Budget Deficit

Katie Hobbs Owns The Arizona Budget Deficit

By Jeff Caldwell |

On Wednesday, October 11, Arizonans learned the budget Katie Hobbs signed into law will possibly have a $400 million shortfall. This means the state won’t have enough money to fund the budget because it’s too big and is spending too much money.

The left wants to blame the budget shortfall on the implementation of former Governor Ducey’s state income flat tax a couple years ago. They also demonize the families participating in the state school choice ESA program. However, if it weren’t for Hobbs’ spending increase of $2 billion and vetoing a $2 billion smaller budget, the state would still have an outlook with a budget surplus.

Let’s review the short history.

In June of 2022, Arizona Governor Ducey signed into law the Fiscal Year 2023 Arizona Budget. The Radical Left and then-Secretary of State Katie Hobbs praised that budget for being bipartisan.

Moving ahead to the most recent 2023 legislative session, Arizona Senate President Warren Petersen and Speaker of the House Ben Toma wanted the new legislature to prioritize their most important responsibility — the state budget. Accordingly, in February, the state legislature passed a continuation of the same $15.8 billion budget from 2022.

Hobbs vetoed it. The budget Hobbs vetoed is the same as the one she applauded after Ducey signed it into law. This year, Hobbs called the budget partisan and extreme. The budget Hobbs decided was good enough to sign into law was $17.8 billion, exactly $2 billion larger than the budget she vetoed.

Hobbs insisted on a budget that is $2 billion larger even while many economists predicted Arizona and the nation are at risk for an economic slowdown due to rising interest rates. Forbes reported, “At the end of 2022, the National Association of Realtors predicted a 15.8% drop in combined sales and prices for the Phoenix-Mesa-Scottsdale [housing] market in 2023.”

The Federal Reserve, the nation’s central bank, currently shows the median home price in the United States is collapsing faster than any other point in recorded history.

If a recession occurs, Arizona will see less tax revenue. This would also have a negative impact on the budget’s revenue because people are spending less money; therefore, the state is collecting less in taxes.

While the Radical Left wants to blame the budgetary shortfall on the flat tax that benefits everyone, one thing is clear. The state of Arizona is spending too much money, and Hobbs’ extra $2 billion budget is destroying Arizona. It is her fault.

Adrian Fontes Is Attempting To Illegally Rewrite State Law Through The Elections Procedures Manual

Adrian Fontes Is Attempting To Illegally Rewrite State Law Through The Elections Procedures Manual

By the Arizona Free Enterprise Club |

The people of Arizona deserve elections that are both accessible and secure—where it is easy to vote and hard to cheat. It is the duty of the legislature to pass bills that ensure this, the Governor to sign those bills into law, and the Attorney General to enforce those laws.

But the Secretary of State’s role is different. This elected official is supposed to provide an Elections Procedures Manual (EPM) that provides impartial direction to county recorders to ensure uniform and correct implementation of election law. But just like his predecessor in this role before him (now-Governor Katie Hobbs), our current Secretary of State Adrian Fontes has filled his EPM with unlawful provisions…
