This week, the Arizona Republican Party reported that the AZGOP’s fundraising efforts “crushed” the party’s goals for the third quarter of 2024, raising a total of $9.22 million.
According to a press release from the party, the Republicans credited the success with Arizonans being “FED UP with the radical Harris/Walz agenda and the dangerous, California-style policies like Prop 140,” adding that they are “threatening” the state.
Chairwoman Gina Swoboda said in a statement, “This $9.22 million haul shows just how serious Arizonans are about WINNING this fight. Our supporters are fueling a movement that will stop the disastrous radical Left policies and ensure Arizona NEVER becomes California. We’re ready to turn out voters in November and WIN.”
The AZGOP noted that the fundraising effort will “supercharge” the party’s war chest going into the endgame of the 2024 election adding the funding is for “crucial efforts to protect Arizona from the Left’s overreach, defend our elections, and mobilize voters across the state.”
In its monthly newsletter, the AZGOP reported that the fundraising efforts are working to fund the Arizona Republican Coordinated Campaign (AZRCC) which it described as “the driving force behind securing Republican victories in November. Unlike traditional independent expenditures, the AZRCC works directly with candidates in critical swing districts, deploying targeted voter contact campaigns to ensure success at the ballot box.”
The party is currently engaged in 18 legislative races and is campaigning heavily to defeat the controversial, California-esque Propositions 140 and 139. As reported by The Hill earlier this month, the Republican party on a national level has lagged on spending in Arizona with only $17 million in aired ad spending in the state.
In a January interview with Steve Bannon’s Warroom, Swoboda told the host that the AZGOP came into the year with “no money,” as State Affairs noted the party ended 2023 with approximately $160,000 cash on hand. Republican consultant Chuck Coughlin told the outlet that the decision to move the party’s headquarters and sell the existing location near Park Central was “prudent.” He told State Affairs, “It seems Ms. Swoboda is making the best of a bad situation.”

The Republican Party of Arizona (AZGOP) released a new billboard design on Thursday exemplifying a theme of unity. The new digital billboards featured across the Valley of the Sun prominently feature an image of President Donald Trump backed by the Arizona Flag’s rays of red and gold sun above the blue sky and flanked by former Democrats, Rep. Tulsi Gabbard and former Presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., as well as Republicans Vice Presidential candidate Sen. JD Vance (R-OH), former Presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy, and ‘X’ owner Elon Musk. Although Musk has been supporting Trump, he has historically declared himself a “registered independent” and “politically moderate.” Thus the billboard represents real political unity representing Democrats, Independents, and Republicans.
According to a press release from the AZGOP, the new billboard is “part of its ‘Team Unity’ campaign, featuring President Donald J. Trump and Vice Presidential nominee Senator J.D. Vance alongside a coalition of prominent American heroes dedicated to restoring our great country.”
“The ‘Team Unity’ billboard is part of a broader effort by the AZGOP to energize voters ahead of the 2024 election. The AZGOP is committed to reaching every corner of the state with this message of hope, optimism, and most importantly, unity.”
The state party Chair Gina Swoboda hailed the billboard’s launch and emphasized the immense need for political unity in America:
“This billboard embodies the spirit of unity that our nation desperately needs,” said Swoboda. “The Trump-Vance ticket represents a powerful coalition of voices that will fight for America — protecting freedom of speech, addressing the health crisis, restoring prosperity, and ensuring security for all Americans. This campaign is about bringing together Arizonans and Americans who are united by their commitment to restoring our nation’s values and standing strong against those who seek to divide us.”
Dating back to his inaugural address in 2021 and throughout his term so far, President Joe Biden has often touted his administration as being one focused on “Unity,” but the message has largely fallen flat with voters, given that any “bipartisan” measures are only superficially so, typically representing the furthest left and most anti-Trump Congressmen and Senators siding against their own party, as well as the increasingly divisive and vitriolic rhetoric the Biden-Harris administration has employed against President Trump and his supporters.
During his inaugural address, Biden said, “We come together as one nation.” He claimed, “Democracy has prevailed,” adding, “We have much to repair, much to restore, much to build, much to heal, and much to gain. But we cannot do it while divided against ourselves. My whole soul is in this—bringing America together,” he said. It is time to end our “uncivil war.”
Alas, by September 2021, in his infamous “Red Speech” (Officially “Remarks by President Biden on the Continued Battle for the Soul of the Nation”), Biden seemed to wholly abandon the cause of ‘unity’ with pro-Trump Republicans when he declared unequivocally:
“Donald Trump and the MAGA Republicans represent an extremism that threatens the very foundations of our republic.”
Although he attempted to pivot, claiming, “Not every Republican, not even the majority of Republicans, are MAGA Republicans. Not every Republican embraces their extreme ideology.” He quickly fell back to the divisive rhetoric, telling supporters, “There is no question that the Republican Party today is dominated, driven, and intimidated by Donald Trump and the MAGA Republicans, and that is a threat to this country.”
He added, “MAGA Republicans do not respect the Constitution. They do not believe in the rule of law. They do not recognize the will of the people.”
However, as the 2024 Election loomed, a resurgence of the new “Unity,” began to spring from the Biden-Harris administration. Yet, even then, he readily maligned President Trump and his supporters, and Vice President Kamala Harris through her campaign has continued to do so.
The clear dichotomy presents the Trump campaign versus the effort to install Harris, as the only ‘true’ example of unity across the political spectrum.

Another potential attempt on former President Donald J. Trump’s life was met with outrage from Arizona Republicans.
On Sunday, the world received shocking news when reports hit the airwaves that gunshots had been fired at one of President Trump’s golf courses in Florida. As more details emerged, it became clear that President Trump may have escaped another assassination attempt from an individual who appeared to be hiding in wait on the outskirts of the property for the former American Commander in Chief to come into his view. A Secret Service advance agent observed this gunman’s weapon, and shots were fired in the alleged attempted assassin’s direction. The individual escaped and was later apprehended by Florida law enforcement soon after the interaction on the golf course.
President Trump was unharmed. He later issued a statement with his thoughts on the second attempt on his life in the past few months, writing, “I would like to thank everyone for your concern and well wishes – it was certainly an interesting day! Most importantly, I want to thank the U.S. Secret Service, Sheriff Ric Bradshaw and his Office of brave and dedicated Patriots, and, all of Law Enforcement, for the incredible job done today at Trump International in keeping me, as the 45th President of the United States, and the Republican Nominee in the upcoming Presidential Election, SAFE. THE JOB DONE WAS ABSOLUTELY OUTSTANDING. I AM VERY PROUD TO BE AN AMERICAN!”
Many Arizona Republicans expressed their feelings about the incident on their social media platforms.
Senate President Warren Petersen said, “2nd assassination attempt of Trump! Unbelievable. Thank heaven he is ok. Suspect in custody.”
The Republican Party of Arizona posted, “The AZGOP thanks God for the safety of President Trump and we are grateful that law enforcement spotted the assailant before anyone was hurt. We stand with President Trump and President Trump will never surrender this country and he will never abandon the American people.”
AZGOP Chair Gina Swoboda added, “We call for an IMMEDIATE increase in security to provide President Trump with the level of resources received by a sitting President. The chaos must be brought to an end, and we must ensure our leaders can serve without coming to harm.”
State Representative Leo Biasiucci stated, “This is getting Fing ridiculous. Give the man full protection, I don’t care if the GOP has to help pay for it. It’s obvious he is not being given adequate protection.”
Justin Heap, a first-term state legislator and current Republican nominee for Maricopa County Recorder, wrote, “May God bless and protect Donald Trump. He is safe after a second assassination attempt on his life. Some things transcend political parties. Attempted assassinations are clearly one of them. Let’s come together to loudly condemn this kind of political violence.”
Senator Janae Shamp said, “May God continue to keep the truest man of The People in His protective white light as he leads the fight to save the only Nation created in His name. Amen.”

A new, and wildly controversial billboard has appeared in several places around Phoenix, echoing the well-known advertising of Chick-fil-A’s ‘Eat Mor Chikin.’ The billboard features kittens in cow costumes bearing the message: “EAT LESS KITTENS — VOTE REPUBLICAN,” courtesy of the AZGOP.
Fueled by reports from concerned citizens alleging to authorities that Haitian illegal immigrants are beheading local ducks for food, and perpetuated by memes citing a Canton, Ohio, woman (later determined to be American) killing and eating a neighbor’s cat, the internet has brought massive public attention to the plight of Springfield, Ohio, residents from the flood of illegal immigration in recent days.
The wave of internet memes calling out the Biden-Harris administration’s illegal immigration policy has been tapped into by the likes of Elon Musk, former President Donald Trump, and Sen. JD Vance.
All of this, of course, led to the billboards.
In posts to social media, the AZGOP wrote, “’EAT LESS KITTENS – Vote Republican!’ This campaign highlights just how horrific things have become under the failed policies of ‘Border Czar’ Kamala Harris. President Trump is committed to securing our borders and ensuring that what we’ve seen elsewhere does not become the norm in our country. If you’re driving in Phoenix, keep an eye out for it!”
In a statement made available to AZ Free News, the AZGOP wrote:
“The AZGOP has launched a new billboard campaign ahead of President Trump’s visit to the state this Thursday, calling attention to the urgent need for border security and the dangers of unchecked illegal immigration.
The eye-catching billboard reads, “EAT LESS KITTENS – Vote Republican!”, due to recent shocking reports from Ohio where Haitian migrants have been allegedly caught eating house pets, ducks, and other animals off the streets.
Communities across the nation have been rattled by disturbing stories involving illegal migrants and unsafe, unthinkable behavior that has no place in American towns. The AZGOP’s latest billboard is a humorous, but sobering reminder of the stakes involved in the fight for secure borders and safe communities.”
“We’re not going to sit idly by while our communities are overrun by tens of thousands of ‘newcomers’ imported by Kamala Harris who have no interest in assimilating into our culture and have no regard for the laws of the United States,” said AZGOP Chair Gina Swoboda.
“Our newest billboard highlights just how horrific things have become under the failed policies of ‘Border Czar’ Kamala Harris. President Trump is committed to securing our borders and ensuring that what we’ve seen elsewhere does not become the norm in our country.”
We, the people, are tired of lawlessness and want a return to common sense at our borders. With President Trump’s visit to Arizona just days away, this billboard campaign will serve as a reminder that it’s time for real leadership that puts America first.”
Responses to the billboards and the memes have propelled the message even further going into the Trump-Harris debate with Democrat Congressman Eric Swalwell taking time during a House Judiciary Committee hearing to castigate Republican Jim Jordan of Ohio for sharing one of them in what could only be described as a badly acted out, performative ‘meltdown’.
Critics online and in Congress seem to be oblivious to the tongue-in-cheek nature of the memes and billboard ads which, while obviously hyperbolic, do point to a genuine concern that runaway illegal immigration is eroding the quality of life of hundreds of thousands of Americans. It’s fascinating to watch so many prominent figures and everyday people alike simultaneously fail to get the joke, or see the forest for the trees.

The Arizona Republican Party has filed a lawsuit in the state Supreme Court against Democrat Governor Katie Hobbs challenging the constitutionality of her Executive Orders 2023-23 and 2023-25. The orders designated state-owned facilities, including those managed by the Arizona Department of Corrections, Rehabilitation, and Reentry (ADCRR) and the Arizona Department of Juvenile Corrections (ADJC), as ballot drop-off locations and ordered state authorities to make voter registration forms available and process them respectively.
Republicans, under AZGOP Chair Gina Swoboda, stated that the new orders rip away authority held by county recorders and other local election authorities.
In the text of the lawsuit, the AZGOP argues, “Governor Hobbs unlawfully exercised her office by attempting to establish voting locations, drop-off locations for completed ballots, and make ADCRR and ADJC, as well as other state agencies, de facto public assistance agencies, which is outside her lawful authority.” They note, “The Arizona law is clear on who can distribute and accept voter registration forms and completed ballots: (1) public assistance or disabilities agencies as defined by statute; or (2) a location/agency as designated by a county recorder (or designee of a county recorder) or justice of the peace. The Governor is nowhere included in this clear line of authority. The same is true for determining voting locations.”
In a statement provided by the AZGOP to AZ Free News, Swoboda wrote,
“Governor Hobbs’ actions represent a blatant overreach of her authority and a direct violation of the separation of powers established by our Constitution. The responsibility for designating voting and ballot drop-off locations, as well as handling voter registration, lies squarely with the Legislature and county officials, not the Governor. These executive orders undermine the trust Arizonans place in their electoral process, and we will not stand by as our constitutional rights are trampled.”
Political commentator George Behizy observed Thursday, “Similar measures were taken in Michigan by Governor Gretchen Whitmer, who designated various state agencies to do the same.” He added, “Hobbs’s orders blatantly violate Article 1 Section 4 Clause 1 of the US constitution which clearly states, ‘The Times, Places and Manner of holding Elections for Senators and Representatives, shall be prescribed in each State by the Legislature thereof[.]’ The constitutional delegates ALL election oversight to the state legislatures. It doesn’t grant the executive any power to delegate random government departments as vote registration sites or ballot drop-off locations.”
The US Constitution as referenced by Behizy states, “The Times, Places and Manner of holding Elections for Senators and Representatives, shall be prescribed in each State by the Legislature thereof; but the Congress may at any time by Law make or alter such Regulations, except as to the Places of chusing(sic) Senators.”
A state Governor or Secretary of State’s ability to enact such measures remains unadjudicated and was the subject of the 2020 Election challenge Texas v. Georgia, Wisconsin, Michigan & Pennsylvania which the U.S. Supreme Court, in one of its most controversial historic decisions, declined to hear. The case divided the states with twenty supporting Texas’ claim, twenty supporting Georgia, Wisconsin, Michigan, and Pennsylvania, and six states undecided.
The Texas complaint similarly revolved around three major points:
- “Non-legislative actors’ purported amendments to States’ duly enacted election laws, in violation of the Electors Clause’s vesting State legislatures with plenary authority regarding the appointment of presidential electors.
- Intrastate differences in the treatment of voters, with more favorable allotted to voters – whether lawful or unlawful – in areas administered by local government under Democrat control and with populations with higher ratios of Democrat voters than other areas of Defendant States.
- The appearance of voting irregularities in the Defendant States that would be consistent with the unconstitutional relaxation of ballot-integrity protections in those States’ election laws.”
Should the case be taken up by the Arizona Supreme Court and adjudicated, it could serve as a basis for a federal ruling to settle the question nationally that was left ambiguous in 2020.
