Thousands Show Up For Turning Point USA Voter Registration Event At ASU

Thousands Show Up For Turning Point USA Voter Registration Event At ASU

By Matthew Holloway |

A late-September voter registration drive at Arizona State University (ASU) was a resounding success last week, just five days after a tragic stabbing rocked the ASU West Campus in Glendale. At ASU’s Memorial Union the “Greeks for Trump” voter registration drive, which featured Turning Point USA’s Charlie Kirk and Republican Senate nominee Kari Lake, saw campaign staffers handing out ‘MAGA’ hats, t-shirts, and hot chicken from Raising Cane’s according to the State Press.

Posting to X on the day of the event, Kirk wrote, “Today we hosted a Voter Registration event at ASU with another MASSIVE turnout. Thousands of students showed up and HUNDREDS of new Gen Z voters got registered. The campus energy this year is unreal. This is how we win.”

Speaking with the outlet, Lake told reporters, “We’re going to get you registered to vote. We’re going to save our country, and we’re going to Make America Great Again.”

Approximately 100 people were at the event at any given time with students coming and going throughout. College Republicans at ASU shared video of Lake tossing hats to the crowd of attendees.

Kirk later shared the reactions of detractors to the event in a post on X:

“Campus leftists at ASU were very confused when they saw the sea of students that came out to our voter registration event today wearing MAGA hats:

‘I was very disturbed seeing all the MAGA hats everywhere today…confused why there were so many…’

‘Made my stomach turn a lil tbh’

‘I’m scared’

We’re barnstorming the country visiting 22 campuses this fall, registering hundreds of Gen Z voters at every stop. I’d be scared if I was them too. And we’re only getting stronger.”

However, according to Turning Point Action volunteer Ruby Halperinn, not everyone at the event was having fun. She reported via X, “As I was registering voters today at ASU, a radical leftist threw their whole beverage on me and ran away. THIS IS THE LEFT. They know we are winning this election and it scares them.”

Lake responded to Halperinn with encouragement saying, “They know that thousands of kids at every university are registering Republican. They know that they are losing the young vote because young Americans know their future is on the line and it’s the America First Republican party that wants to make their future great again.”

Turning Point USA’s Morgonn McMichael described the crowd at the Memorial Union as being “HUNDREDS of students.”

Afonso Machado, a freshman volunteer and Political Science student, told the State Press, “We need you to register to vote, we need you to engage so we can show America that this conservative movement is growing.”

The effort continued well after the initial event last Wednesday with Nick Moore posting on Sunday that the Sigma Nu fraternity had dozens of members register at a Tempe event with Lake. He wrote, “Dozens more fraternity members registered to vote tonight in Tempe, Arizona. Thank you Sigma Nu for having @KariLake for a tour of the Greek Leadership Village at ASU and the opportunity cast her vision for your future. Vote Kari Lake for U.S. Senate on November 5th!”

The most recent registered voter statistics from the Arizona Secretary of State’s Office showed Republicans leading Democrats in registered voters by 259,270 and Independents by 59,668.

Turning Point Action To Chase Republican Ballots In Arizona For 2024 Election

Turning Point Action To Chase Republican Ballots In Arizona For 2024 Election

By Elizabeth Troutman |

A Republican ballot chasing effort is hiring 10 full-time ballot chase managers in Arizona to turn the state red in the 2024 election.

Turning Point Action’s Chase the Vote initiative, which launched on July 17, 2023, contacts voters who have received mail-in ballots to urge them to fill them out and make a voting plan, according to Chase the Vote’s website.

Chase the Vote will send outdoor knockers to encourage voters in “battleground states” including Arizona, Georgia, Wisconsin, Nevada, Iowa, Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania, North Carolina, and Florida to vote Republican in response to left-wing battle-chasing initiatives.

The initiative will identify Republican voters, help them register to vote, inspire them through rallies and events, and mobilize voters to the polls on election day, according to the website.

Applications are open for ballot chase managers in the cities of Anthem, Glendale, Buckeye, Goodyear, Peoria, Surprise, North Phoenix, Queen Creek, Gilbert, and Mesa.

“The Radical Left is beating us in the ballot game,” Chase the Vote’s website says. “They have strategically concentrated their efforts on key states, massively expanding their ballot-chasing operations in critical battlegrounds.”

In 2020, President Joe Biden won the vote in Maricopa County, Arizona’s largest county. Chase the Vote aims to turn Maricopa County red in the 2024 election.

“In 2024, Turning Point Action will launch the first and most robust conservative ballot-chasing operation,” the website continues. “With a strong national grassroots network and a track record of empowering conservative leaders, we are committed to ensuring every American makes a voting plan for victory.”

Responsibilities of ballot chase manager positions include “daily communication, training and guiding ballot chasers across the state of Arizona, and volunteers;” and “hiring and building a community of the nation’s most aggressive and highly skilled ballot chasers in recent American history,” according to the job description.

Chase the Vote hopes to mobilize more than 1,000 field organizers to track and chase target ballots in battleground states.

Turning Point Action is partnering with Early Vote Action, Tea Party Patriotic Action, and America First Works to build the ballot chasing operation.

“Whether we like it or not, it’s time for conservatives to accept that our elections have been fundamentally transformed from traditional same-day voting to an early vote mobilization game. It’s time for our side of the aisle to adapt and respond,” Tyler Bowyer, Turning Point Action chief operating officer, said in a news release. “Our new coalition will build and execute an early vote juggernaut, giving us the upper hand in this logistical battle. From now on, we will play by the Left’s rules and chase every vote before Election Day even begins.”

Turning Point Action did not immediately respond to a request for comment from AZ Free News.

Executive director of Turning Point’s partner, America First Works, said conservatives need to mobilize early for the America First movement to succeed.

“In partnership with Turning Point Action, we will outmatch the Left’s early vote and ballot harvesting machine and, finally, even the election playing field,” Ashley Hayek said. “Our side has the winning message and the winning policies. And through this coalition, we will no longer wake up after an election wondering what went wrong.”

Tucson Stores Look The Other Way With Theft; ‘Police Don’t Show Up’

Tucson Stores Look The Other Way With Theft; ‘Police Don’t Show Up’

By Corinne Murdock |

Tucson’s stores are looking the other way with theft, according to local accounts of law and order in the city.

Lacey Nagao, a Turning Point Action influencer, shared her experience of a store visit over the weekend in a viral account. Nagao reported that she witnessed theft at a local Walgreens while she was checking out, but that employees said it didn’t matter. A homeless man, one of the 10 or so outside the store, walked out with items including Cheetos, beer, and soda without paying. Nagao recounted that the man even issued a farewell to the checkout clerk.

According to Nagao, the employees were beyond the point of feeling disaffected by the lack of police response to reports of theft. Per Nagao, the employees said the police “don’t show up” and “have been told not to do anything” concerning theft. Additionally, the store’s security guards were fired by their regional manager last month, and employees were instructed to allow thieves to “take whatever they want.”

Nagao said that when she asked the employee if she could have left without paying for her groceries, the employee acknowledged that she could have if she so desired.

Nagao lamented the lack of law and order, blaming the city’s Democrat-majority leadership.

“Our city is becoming a place I never thought I would see, and quite frankly, somewhere I refuse to live,” said Nagao. “Thanks to [Mayor Regina Romero], Tucson is quickly on its way to becoming the next San Francisco.”

In response to Nagao’s account, several users reported that they noticed a lack of police amid drugs and crime.

Another user, a 50-year local, said that it “breaks their heart” to witness the changes unfolding.

Another local, noted a “huge influx” of homeless individuals in the area over the last four months.

Several users attested to similar issues happening in Scottsdale, Phoenix, Tempe, and Mesa.

Several users pointed out that corporate policies factor into the permissive view of theft as well.
